More Than a Club
A Legacy Since 1953
From Football Roots to Basketball Excellence
APOP BC was originally founded in September 1953 as the Athletic Football Club of Paphos (A.P.O.P.). What began as a local football club soon grew into a cultural symbol for the Paphos community.
In May 2001, the club evolved into the “Athletic Cultural Club of Paphos” (still A.P.O.P.) — a non-profit organization committed to promoting sports and cultural activities in the region.
In 2003, APOP launched its basketball division, beginning a new chapter in its storied history. Today, APOP BC proudly operates a men’s professional team, basketball academies for youth aged 6–18, and one of the only four wheelchair basketball teams in Cyprus.
Our Emblem, Our Colors, Our Pride
The APOP emblem features a shield with six blue and five white vertical stripes — colors that represent purity, trust, and unity.
At the top of the shield is the club’s name, A.P.O.P., and at the bottom, its founding year: 1953. These elements reflect our enduring legacy and commitment to growth through sport and culture.
